
Ambrosia Apple Bacon Cheddar Toast
Ambrosia’s are great for sweet and savory baking, but did you know they are also a great way to add some sweetness and fibre to your favourite classic sandwich recipes? Try some diced in your chicken salad sandwich, or if you are looking for a way to elevate the grilled cheese sandwich, look no further. This open-face grilled sandwich has everything you’re looking for in a well balanced meal. You’ve got the wholesomeness of rye, a salty protein, a creamy melted cheese, all beautifully offset by the tangy-sweetness of Ambrosia apples. With a bit of healthy kale tucked in, this is definitely better than the boring cheese toast from your childhood.
Ambrosia Apple Bacon Cheddar Toast

Ingredients:
1 small Ambrosia apple, thinly sliced
½ cup sharp cheddar cheese
4 strips bacon, cooked
1 large slice rye bread
1 handful baby kale (optional)
Method:
- Preheat oven to 350°
- Lightly toast one large slice of rye bread
- Place kale on toasted bread
- Layer on Ambrosia apple slices
- Add cooked bacon slices
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese
- Bake for 10 – 12 minutes until cheese is fully melted and turning golden in spots.
- Let cool. Slice and serve.
