Announcing the Ambrosia Apple a Day Contest
Will your love for Ambrosia apples shine through your photo enough to win a luxurious Spring getaway in the South Okanagan?
Starting on January 8th, 2019, Ambrosia apple fans are invited to submit their photo to the Ambrosia Apple a Day Photo Contest. One winning photo will be selected after the contest closes on March 15, 2019.
The photographer behind the winning photo will win a spectacular Spring getaway to Osoyoos, BC in the southern part of the province – just around the corner from the birthplace of Ambrosia apples (Cawston, BC).
The Grand Prize includes:
- Three nights at the Spirit Ridge Resortin Osoyoos,
- Winery tour, tasting and lunch at Nk’mip Cellars Winery
- $200 credit for Solterra Spa
- As well as access to the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre
- And $500 cash!
Picture it. The vineyards and orchards of the South Okanagan in blossom, bees buzzing, and the renewal of spring in the air. You’ll spend three nights in the 4-star, Spirit Ridge Resort (a Hyatt property). From the resort, you can walk over to Nk’Mip Cellars and sip award-winning wine as you tour the very first aboriginal-owned winery in North America while learning about the legacy of the land. Book yourself into the Solterra Spa – will it be a massage, facial, pedicure or a combination? Don’t forget to take in the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre where you can discover the history of the Osoyoos Indian Band and their unique relationship with the land and animals of the region. You might want to visit the gift shop to get a souvenir with that additional $500 cash prize.
Doesn’t that sound like a luxurious getaway?
It’s time to get snapping. Yours could be the winning photograph.
The main requirement for the photo is that it shows off your love for Ambrosia apples. It could feature you, your best friend, your family, or your entire community enjoying an Ambrosia apple.
Participants can enter a photo everyday if they like as long as they follow all of the official rules.
But, it’s not a volume game. Only one photo will be selected. The winning photo will be determined by a panel of judges who are all Ambrosia apple growers. They’ll be looking to see that love of Ambrosia apples shining through the photo.
Want to make sure your photo gets noticed? There will also be an opportunity for people to vote on their favourite photo. While the public votes don’t technically count, it’s certainly one way to be sure the judges give you shot a second look.
Speaking of the judges, we are proud to introduce them to you. This year, the winning image will be chosen by Adrian Arts, a young farmer in Summerland, BC, Penticton-based grower, Natalina Arauja, and Railou Gill whose orchard is in Cawston, BC. Besides all being Ambrosia apple growers, they also have one other thing in common – they love Ambrosia apples! So, they’re going to be pretty good judges.
We can’t wait to see what you come up with. Click here to visit our contest page and start entering your best Ambrosia apple shots.
