Chef Alessandro Vianello Wins the Ambrosia Apple Chef of the Year Contest

His Ambrosia Apple Tart Tartin Was the Crowd Favourite!

In the fall of 2017, four Vancouver-based chefs offered up their original and creative Ambrosia Apple dishes via video. Ambrosia Apple fans were asked to test them out and vote for their favourite.

With close to 13,000 votes, the scrumptious Ambrosia Apple Tart Tartin by Chef Alessandro Vianello of Wildebeest Restaurant, Vancouver, BC was the biggest crowd-pleaser. We’re thrilled to hand him the crown of Ambrosia Apple Chef of the Year.

Our participating chefs this year were exceptional and offered us amazingly creative recipes. We thank each of them for sharing their recipes  as we will continue to enjoy the Ambrosia Apples with Sake Kasu Caramel from Chef Bardia Ilbeiggi of Farmer’s Apprentice, the Tai Carpaccio and Ambrosia apple crudo from Chef Alan Ferrer of Miku Restaurant, and the poached Ambrosia apples with whipped oat-cream dessert from Chef Eva Chin from Royal Dinette.

Chef Alessandro wasn’t the only winner in this contest. Everyone who voted had a chance to win a 3-day getaway to Osoyoos. The grand prize includes a luxurious stay at Spirit Ridge Resort, the “Land to Legacy” wine tour, tasting and lunch for two at the award-winning Nk’Mip Cellars, plus $200 credit at the Solterra Desert Spa, passes to the Desert Cultural Centre AND, $500 spending money!

We put all 12,995 votes into the randomizer and the lucky winner is Shaun from Shawnigan Lake, BC. He’s looking forward to making the trip from Vancouver Island to the Interior of BC! Enjoy your time in Osoyoos, Shaun!

A big thanks to all of the Ambrosia apple fans who tried out these recipes and put their name in the draw! Stay tuned for more contests and delicious recipes.
