The Best, Most Scrumptious Dips For Ambrosia Apples

Take Your Ambrosia Snacking to the Next Level

Ambrosia apples and dipsAmbrosia apples slices have to be one of the most satisfying snacks out there. They’re refreshing, sweet and have a gratifying snap with each bite. Could it get any better?

Let’s take them for a dip and see.

Here are 5 scrumptious sauces to dip your Ambrosia apple slices (or wedges) into.

Better-Than-Caramel Dip

Here’s a healthier substitute for the old-fashioned apple dip, caramel. But this dip has a lot less sugar and so much more nutritional value.

And, it’s simple to make.

Put a 250 gram container of cream cheese into a blender with ¾ cup of Demerara (brown sugar), a tablespoon of vanilla extract, and a dash of sea salt.

Blend until everything is incorporated and serve with freshly cut Ambrosia apple wedges.

PB & Yogurt

Move over jam, peanut butter has a new partner! We love to mix all-natural peanut butter into Greek-style yogurt and take our Ambrosia apple slices for a lovely morning dip.

You can find your perfect mix (depending on how nutty you want it) but a good start is by mixing one tablespoon of peanut butter into ¼ cup of yogurt.

Some people like to add a little bit of honey to sweeten it but we find that it’s not needed when you’re dipping Ambrosia apples because they are already sweet enough.

Chocolate Avocado Dip

This is a great way to make a healthy dip feel decadent. It’s creamy, chocolatey, and the kids will love it (without realizing that it’s good for them!)

Make sure you’re using ripe avocados. In a small food processor, combine: 1 large avocado (peeled and pitted), 3 tablespoons real maple syrup, ⅓ cup of cocoa powder (unsweetened), 1 tablespoon of milk (or your favourite nut milk to make it vegan), 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt.

Blend until smooth. Top with cacao nibs (optional).

Hot Tip: Cutting the recipe in half makes the perfect amount of dip to enjoy with one medium Ambrosia apple – ideal if you’re snacking solo. Double it for a dipping party.

Maple Cinnamon Whipped Cream

We love this recipe from Spruce Eats. They top desserts with it, but we like to use it on our raw Ambrosia apple slices. It’s also quite delicious when you dip in grilled Ambrosia apple wedges that have been caramelized a little on the BBQ. Oh, and we bet it would be spectacular on these Ambrosia Apple Fritters!

Their recipe calls for whipping cream, maple syrup, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

Roasted Ambrosia Apple Hummus

For our last dip, we’re going to double the Ambrosia quotient. This one is perfect for Ambrosia dipping and it’s made with Ambrosia.

This is a real crowd pleaser and you can play around with the spices to suit your palate. It’s also perfect for people who prefer to watch rather than read their recipes. Check out the video here.

You’ll need at least two Ambrosia apples (one for the hummus and one for dipping), chickpeas, garlic, lemon juice, sunflower butter, olive oil and salt.

Happy apple dipping!
