Last month we announced the launch of our latest contest, the I Like my Ambrosia With… Contest. Have you told us what you like your Ambrosia apples with, yet? It’s easy to enter the contest. Simply take a photo of exactly what you like your Ambrosia with and upload it to the contest website. Check out the rules and regulations here and then get creative. You could win an amazing Okanagan getaway including a three-night stay and a spa treatment at the Summerland Waterfront Resort, a gift certificate for $100 at Local Lounge * Grill  in Summerland, an Okanagan Crush & VIP wine tour and tasting, plus $500 spending money. Wouldn’t that be nice? We sure hope you enter to win.

A Chef’s Answer

We took our big question to the Okanagan’s own Michael Lyon. Guess what this celebrated Chef and TV personality likes his Ambrosia with – a pork tenderloin. As a special treat, he showed us exactly how to prepare an Ambrosia apple crusted pork tenderloin. Here’s a video with step by step instructions that will allow you to create this impressive and surprisingly simple dinner. Thanks to Chef Lyon for sharing this recipe. We’re so pleased that he has agreed to be one of the judges for our contest.

A Month of Hearts and Apples

Most people think of Valentine’s Day first when they think of February, but did you know that it’s also apple month? We think it’s a perfect month to celebrate this ideal fruit since, thanks to controlled atmosphere storage, apples like Ambrosia still taste fresh and crispy even in the dead of winter. It’s also fitting that the apple shares this month with heart health awareness because eating apples daily has been found to lower cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease. Find out all of the nutritional benefits of Ambrosia apples here.

We’re Famous, Sort Of.

We may not be famous but Ambrosia apples did recently rub shoulders with a whole lot of celebrities. Ambrosia apples were included in the Oscar nominee gift basket this year. That means that after a long Academy Awards show those who didn’t have a statue in their hands got to palm a healthy and fresh snack instead. We’ve always been the Food of the Gods , and now we’re also the food of Hollywood royalty.
