June 2021 – Summer Solstice

Summer is here! Our farmers are busy getting their trees ready for thinning, so they can deliver delicious Ambrosia apples to your local produce department this Fall, and kids have been released from whatever school looked like to them for the year. We are all still encouraged to spend time outside. Ambrosia apples travel well, are fantastic on the barbeque, and also make patio-worth cocktails (see below).

Ambrosia Apple A Day Update
Ambrosia apples

Patricia has been avidly eating her apple a day for more than half the year now, and is still going strong. “I made a commitment at the beginning of the year to be kinder to myself and treat my body a little better. Ambrosia apples are so healthy, and delicious, that it’s easy!

“I’ve been reading the Come Dine With Me posts, and since I had the John Bishop cookbook, I tried the duck recipe. It did not disappoint! I paired it with the latest salad recipe, and it was out of this world!”

Ambrosia apples recipeHappy Father’s Day

With June comes Father’s Day, where we paid homage to our fathers. Apparently, the day may originate in pagan sun worship. Some branches of paganism see the Sun as the father of the universe, and since the June solstice occurs around the same time of year as Father’s Day, some people draw a link between the two. We like to think of it as a time to celebrate all the great dads out there! Congrats, Dads! We are who we are because of you! Although it might be a little late for the big day, try these Grilled Ambrosia Apple

Pork Burgers. Dad is sure to love them, as will the entire family!
