It’s Harvest Time!
No, that is not a misprint and no, you did not slip into a time warp. The Ambrosia apple harvest really is happening right now. Thanks to an unseasonably early spring and a warm, dry summer, Ambrosias are ripe and ready almost three weeks early this year. Growers in the southern part of BC started picking in mid September while farmers a little further north are just now finding the fruit is perfect for picking. The wait is over! Find fresh Ambrosia apples at your farmer’s market or local grocer now.
Recipe: Salad of the Season
If you’re like us, you can’t resist grabbing a big bag of fresh Ambrosia apples as soon as they come off the trees. We know people love to eat them all kinds of ways but one our favourites in these last few days of summer is in a crisp kale salad. Here’s a recipe that celebrates fresh garden kale and just-picked Ambrosias. Bon Appetite!
