School’s Out! Time to Get Outside with Ambrosia Apples
For many of us, summer means being on the go and having adventures. We have to take advantage of the great weather while it lasts, after all. But, all of these activities require fuel. Good news! Ambrosia apples are a great way to keep your energy up, satiate your hunger (and thirst), and keep you healthy along the way.

If you love hitting the trails then we recommend packing some Ambrosia apple trail mix. Trail mix is perfect for hiking because it’s loaded with nutrients and a little goes a long way. You can grab a handful and keep moving or enjoy it nibble-by-nibble as you take in a well earned view. To make Ambrosia apple trail mix, combine diced up dehydrated Ambrosia apples with your favourite nuts and seeds. It’s easy to make and won’t spoil on those longer hikes.
If you’re lucky enough to live near a body of water and be able to slip a kayak or canoe in, the snack you’re looking for needs to be compact, uncomplicated, and easy to eat. We like to slice up our Ambrosia apples (with the skin on) and put them in an air-tight, sealable plastic bag. Keep it handy so you can grab a slice or two when it’s time for a drift and rest. Having pre-cut apple wedges (and maybe some carrots and celery too), plus a few dip options like hummus or peanut butter are perfect to refuel you when you pull over at a scenic rest stop. You can make it a quick pit-stop or sit and enjoy it like a meal. It all depends on how many stops you want to take-in. Remember, it’s all about the journey, not the destination – and the journey will be much better if you stop to savour some Ambrosia apples along the way.
Beating the Heat
Sometimes, the best summer activity is just beating the heat. Whether that means chilling out in a shaded hammock or splashing around in a kiddie pool, there’s nothing better than a frozen Ambrosia apple treat. This doesn’t have to be complicated. You can simply pour some Ambrosia apple juice into an ice cube tray, cover it with tin foil or plastic wrap and insert a toothpick into each cube. Freeze and enjoy. You’ll have the summer heat licked in no time.
